Re: Why dont Muslims speak out against terrorism?

Muslims have the same roots as Christanity and Judiasm. Abe and his wife Sara were trying to conceive and couldnt so Sara got her maidservent Hagar to bare Abe a son, then an angel appeard to Sara and said she could finally get preg, so Abe kicked Hagar and Ishmael out to wonder the desert. This is where the Islamic religion picks up.

the shi'tes (sp?) are only like 20% of the entire muslim religion.

With so much negative publicity focused on terrorists striking in the name Islam, you would think there would be more Muslims speaking out against terror. They seem awfully quiet.

I realize I'm skating a fine line here and I don't want to sterotype....I know there are Muslims out there that don't agree with terror, but seriously, the voices of other Muslims could be very powerful to stop terror. Where are they?

    That's a great question.

Say, do you profess to be of any particular religion? If so, which?

Christian faith. I believe each person to talk to God though and that it is not essential that you go through a preacher. I feel I can do the same thing every night when I go to bed praying as I can in the church.

Alright. So, your question was this:

Do you feel that you should speak out against those who have performed violent acts in the name of Christianity?

if you are referring to the crusades, it is clear that those people were not truly of christian faith. persecution and actually almost pure genocide were parts of the crusades.
Cant we all just get along?

Thanks for your reply! You've provided a good example, but I didn't intend to allude to any individual event of violence performed in the name of Christianity.

If you rated yourself on a scale of one to ten in regards to your knowledge of Islam, where one is the least knowledge and ten is a superior understanding, what would your rating be?

Re: Why dont Muslims speak out against terrorism?

My honest guess would be they don't feel the need. I mean everytime a redneck does something wrong, I don't feel the need to stand and renounce what they do. Why should a Muslim have to speak out against their kind? In truth, you get many that do speak out against it but that doesn't make for good tv. I remember when 9-11 occured that the local news was filled with doctors and various other Muslims saying that what occured wasn't what Islamic views were, but of course to many people think they just say that or group them all into one.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

Re: Why dont Muslims speak out against terrorism?

1..... no person truly understands any religion. as much as i know about the Christian faith i would only give myself a 1 because no person can say that they truly understand anything. you just have to have faith in what you believe and go from there. its a never ending flood of knowledge. i have respect for all religions and try to learn as much about them as possible, but to rate myself on a scale i can say that i am not in full understanding of anything so to rate myself high would be a total lie.
Cant we all just get along?
